Classicist building built in the years 1781-1783 on order of Count Nostic. Mozart's opera “Don Giovanni” had its premiere there in 1787 and it was conducted by Wolfgang Amadaeus Mozart himself. In 1834 a premiere of the song „Kde domov můj“ took place there and it later became the Czech national anthem. The Estates Theatre currently offers performances of dramas, ballets and operas with the focus of the opera company on the work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. A more contemporary claim to fame originates from the Oscar-winning film Amadeus, directed by Czech director Milos Forman. The scenes of Mozart in Prague were shot at the Estates Theatre for authenticity.
