A channal, which connected Vltava and Dunaj (Danube) is the second biggest technical monument in Šumava.
It was built at the turn of the 18th. and the 19th. century and it was meant to be a water way, on which timber logs would be floated down from Šumava forests to Vienna. Its torso was left unchanged up to the present day. Contemporary documents, pictures, photographs and historical objects completed with an exhibition about forestry and timbering in Šumava, survey the origination, importance and the present situation of the navigation channel and its surroundings.
