Together with the Church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, the Premonstratensian Monastery was founded in the first half of the 12th. century.
The famous Hussite preacher Jan Želivský was one of the monks of this monastery. During the 17th. and the 18th. centuries, the monastery has become a spiritual, economical and cultural centre of the region again and the convent was rebuilt in the Baroque-Gothic style according to plans of J. B. Santini. The nunnish community returned to a part of the monastery in 1991. Visitors can see the monastery, a cloister, a refectory with a rich stuke and painting decoration, a chapter hall, a library hall and other interiors.Hotels in Location
