In the former Jewish village from the 17th. century only 32 houses including a former school, a spa center and a townhall with the rabbi´s flat are preserved. In the synagogue from 1684 we can find exhibitions, dedicated to the local Jewish community. The museum is also dedicated to the “Hilsneriade“, recalling the year 1899 when close to Polná a nineteen year old Anežka Hrůzová was found murdered and Leopold Hilsner from the local Jewish quarter was charged with the crime. The professor of the Prague´s University and later on the Czech president Thomas Garrigue Masaryk, demanded a retrial to defend people against superstition about the ritual murder and the anti-Jewish attitudes.
