The Planetarium was opened on November 20, 1960.
Since 1979 it belongs to the "Observatory and Planetarium of Prague", which constitutes of three subjects: Stefanik Observatory, Planetarium, and Dablice Observatory).
The Prague Planetarium is the largest institution of its kind in the Czech Republic and is one of the largest in the world. You find three planetarium projectors in one building!
