The National park and the protected landscape area of Šumava is situated in the South-Bohemian region and the Plzeň Region.
It stretches along the border with Germany and Austria from Železná Ruda all the way to Zvonkovna by the Lipno reservoir. It is situated in the altitude of 600 – 1378 m above sea level and with its area of 690 km2 it belongs to the largest Czech national park. There are remains of virgin forests, moors, glacial lakes, meadows and low moors.
