The biggest and the oldest Czech museum, founded in 1818.
Is located in a famous Neo-Renaissance building, which is a dominant feature of Václavské náměstí (Wenceslas Square). The museum contains prehistoric, historical-archeological, theatre, mineralogical, geological-paleontological and zoological collections and also holds exhibitions, lectures and other cultural happenings. It is the largest Czech museum with exhibitions of many fields such as natural science, history, The Czech Museum of Music and the Náprstek Museum of African, Asian and American cultures. The museum has one of the most beautiful and largest mineral collections in the world.
