The museum was founded in 1885 and it focuses on the art-craft exponates and modern art.
The most precious article of this museum is the glass collection documenting the glass evolution from the antique times up to the present, there is also a collection of graphics, old furniture collection and the photographic works of F. Drikol and J. Sudek. The Museum’s organisation was re-structured in 1995. There are now four curatorial departments in charge of collections, a public library, a newly established department of presentation.
