This castle, set on a high promontory in the meandr of Ohře river, was founded at the end of the 12th. century in order to guard the trade path from Prague to Germany.

The exhibitions are dedicated to the history of the castle and the town Loket, to guttural justice and torture and to the famous local glass and porcelain. The sightseeing path also includes historical interiors, a former prison cell and a lookout tower.
