Prague Castle

Prague Castle is the biggest castle in the world, monumental place of the Czech Republic. In the past it used to be a seat of the Czech rulers and nowadays it is a seat of president of the Czech Republic. Prague Castle attracts its visitors by its famous sites: St. Vitus‘ Cathedral, Basilica of St. George, Old and New Royal Palace, Spanish Hall, Ball room, Daliborka Tower and the Golden Lane. Prague Castle has several entrances, and the most beautiful is from Old castle stairs or from Petřín. Czech Crown Jewels are safely deposited in St. Vitus‘ Cathedral. 

 

Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge with its 30 sculptures and sculptural groups ranks among most visited Prague sights. Foundation stone was laid down in succession of odd numbers 1-3-5-7-9-7-5-3-1 (9.7.1357 at 5 hours and 31 minutes). The bridge connects both embankments of the river Vltava. Both sides of the bridge are dominated by bridge towers called Old Town bridge Tower and Lesser town bridge Tower. Charles Bridge is one of the most beautiful bridges in the world from which visitors of Prague have a stunning view of Prague Castle panorama, Petrin Hill with lookout tower and view of other Prague bridges.

 

Josefov, Jewish TownJosefov, Jewish Town, which is part of Old Town, with its oldest preserved synagogue in Europe, offers its visitors Old-New, Klausen, Maisel, Pinkas, Spanish synagogues and Old Jewish cemetery. Many important persons, who had direct contacts with the Czech ruler, used to live in the Jewish town. The most famous are Jehuda Löw ben Becalel, creator o legendary Golem, patron and architect Mordechaj Maisel, Jakob Baševi a David Gans. Jewish museum in Prague is one of the biggest Jewish museums in the world.

 

Old Town Square

Old Town Square with Jan Hus monument, which stands in the middle of it, is a popular meeting place not only for inhabitants but also for visitors of Prague. Stunning houses surrounding the square e.g. Old Town Hall, Church of our Lady before Týn, Church of St. Nicholas, house „At stone bell“, Kinský Palace and others, are admired by many visitors while sitting on the benches or garden restaurants on the square. Old Town square where traditional markets, concerts and social events take place. The square intersects Prague meridian

 

Wenceslas Square

Wenceslas Square is business and social heart of Prague with its many hotels and prestigious shops. It is also a traditional place of celebrations, demonstrations and mass meetings. In the upper end of the square is located equestrian sculpture of St.Wenceslas and behind her a domineering building of National Museum. In the lower end of the square there is pedestrian area. Wenceslas Square intersect most important thoroughfare, transit artery and also underground network. The history of square is connected with trading, especially horse trading.

 

Kampa – Čertovka – Prague Venice

Kampa – Čertovka – Prague Venice, park and Kampa Island are on the Lesser Town embankment with extant water mill wheels, picturesque quiet nooks and unforgettable views of the river Vltava, National Theatre, Charles Bridge, Hradcany and Petrin. First buildings on Kampa Island were water mills, then the surface was strengthen for building of palaces and gardens for aristocrats, which we admire these days. There are many unique hotels and restaurants in Kampa Island and from the Charles bridge foot it is a nice walk through Malostranske Square and Nerudova street to the Prague Castle.
