The history of the name Prague
In accordance with available historical materials Prague was founded in the 9th century in conjunction with the foundation of the Prague castle. The name Prague is not historically documented; it has got an association with prophesies and legends. Obviously the name Prague derives from “práh” – e.g. the sill in English.
