International Music Festival Prague Spring was founded in 1946, when Czechoslovakia celebrated the first anniversary of the end of the World War II. Parallel in this year was celebrated 50th anniversary of the Czech Philharmonic. Based on these anniversaries the establishment of the festival took place, which was the culmination of seventy years of the efforts of Prague music public to organize annual music festival attended by top international soloists and leading orchestras in Prague.
This year's Prague Spring will traditionally start with Smetana's My Country, which will be conducted after five years by the Czech Philharmonic led by Vasil Petrenko.
In Prague will also present Viennese Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Edita Gruber, Magdalena Kozena, Mitsuko Uchida, Mark Padmore, Paul Sporcl, Leif Ove Andsnes and others.
