Modigliani's first time in Prague
Prague can finally enjoy the historically first exhibition of works by the painter Amedeo Modigliani, which will be held at the Art Nouveau Halls of the Municipal House from December 9, 2010 to February 28, 2011.
The exhibition in the Municipal House, supervised by an experienced curator Serena Baccaglini, will present Modigliani (1884 - 1920) as an Italian artist and, of course, as an important figure of the international”Paris School“of the early 20th century. The project is remarkable, bringing the number of study drawings, contributing significantly to the understanding of the development of a painter's figurative work.
Documentary photographs are also trying to acquaint the public with painter’s personal life. Modigliani's life was short and fierce. The painter received his major recognition after his early death.
The exhibition will also include artwork of the first Czech abstractionist Frantisek Kupka, Pablo Picasso, Max Jacob and other contemporaries of Modigliani. Accompanying program will serve the purpose of showing the exhibited artwork in a broader thematic context.
